The Alpha is an all new wetsuit for 2009. Essentially it replaces the Apex 2 as our top of the range wetsuit, for good swimmers who want the highest levels of flexibility.
We are pretty excited about the suit as the feedback we have had from our sponsored athletes has been fantastic. Some key facts/features:
It’s the first Orca wetsuit to use Yamamoto #40 cell neoprene (over every part of the suit apart from the Aerodome panels).
It uses 1.5mm panels of neoprene across the arms, shoulders, chest, and these panels are cut into unique shapes to provide fantastic flexibility, the horseshoe shaped panel that runs from the underarm across the chest in particular really helps with extra flexibility). There’s also a high stretch nylon lining for increased flexibility.
Orca have reverted to the Yamamoto name “Aerodome” for the neoprene they’ve previously called AirLite – they developed this neoprene with Yamamoto a few years ago, and it’s proved popular because it provides about 30% more buoyancy than normal 5mm neoprene.
The Alpha (and the 3.8) also get a new forearm catch panel called AquaTread. Rather than printing silicon onto jersey they’ve used a moulded and pressed piece of neoprene to create more drag with each stroke.
I have started another project. I am importing and distributing a new kind of energy to complement what we already do. Its called KORU ( www.koruenergy.com ) and i think its goint to take the country by storm.
Its a little caffeine strip that you just put into your mouth…40mg caffeine straight into your bloodstream and then all you do is sit back and wait for the kick…

I’m a truly blessed to be able to travel a lot, i know that i moan about it sometimes and yes it does get very tiring and its very disruptive on your personal life. But every now and then you get blessed with a perfect day in a perfect place.
Today is one of those days, i am writing this from here :
I am in Knysna for a friend’s wedding, a little bit of work and a little bit of play. Although it’s not HOT, its really sunny and being at the water is very peaceful. I am waiting for my new ORCA RS1 to arrive and then i am just going to jump off and go for a swim to test it out and then have a lazy sun downer on the deck.

Its taken us abot 6 months to get it done after we had done all of our initial testing and trials on it. But the long wait is over, we are busy making Pepto Pro Energy Gels as we speak.

Another project which i have recently started up with 2 partners is Triathlete Magazine SA, www.triathletesa.co.za. We are about to publish our 4th issue and man has this been a interesting ride. We didn’t come from a print media background and so we have had to learn and learn fast,on our feet.. There has been some really tense moments but we coming out of the dark and into the light. I now know that having a bleed is a must and doesn’t come with any real blood and how important a paper trail is when dealling with advertisors.
We cover everything to do with Triathlon from sprint races to Ironman racing, gear, tech, Q and A and we are always looking for new material, so if you have any ideas or articles or pictures please don’t hesitate to send them through to us.
Everytime i hear that question all i wish was that i had a simple 1 sentence answer like: ” I’m an accountant ”
You see i am involved with quite a few things and i can fill a whole 2hr conversation with what i am involved in, so over the next few weeks i am going to try and out it all down so that people have a better idea of what i do as some of my close friends dont really know what i do.
My first and Main thing i do is own aa company called JAC SOLUTION MANAGEMENT and i have a partner called Johan Esterhuyse or also known as “Big J ” we are about 2.5 years old and we do turn key operations for the pharmaceutical industry.
We make products for other people, help people start their own brands as well as do formula’s and packaging for them too.
We also have a few brands of our own, we have http://www.whaspgel.com which is a energy gel used by people who need a boost during exercise, we also launching a energy drink and recovery product this month
Our newest range is called Phyto Organix and is the 5 superfruits in a vegi cap form also Vegan friendly, this goes live in 2 weeks time.
