Reynolds new 900g wheel

Its Eurobike week and so many people have launched a few nice things for 2010.

Lew racing has been a favourite wheel company of mine for a long time and have recently joined up with Reynolds to give you a 900g wheelset, this is what they had to say :

Reynolds Cycling recently added carbon wheel talent Paul Lew to its enviable roster and along with him came the ideas and concepts behind his stunning VT-1 road wheelset. Those wheels have since undergone a number of refinements and reworks but Reynolds claims the resultant RZR 46[T] (as it will now be known) is still under 900g and yet is one of the stiffest and most responsive, too.

Radical appearances aside, the RZR 46[T] is essentially built using a conventional separate, hub, spoke, nipple and rim layout – albeit in this case everything is bonded together once the alignment is completed and there are no metallic joints whatsoever. The spokes boast a symmetric airfoil profile, the 46mm-deep carbon tubular rims incorporate a unique ‘Swirl Lip Generator’ at the spoke end to slightly reduce drag, and the hubs feature double-walled carbon shells, precision ground carbon fiber axles, and low-drag cartridge bearings – including three in the rear hub shell to squelch any axle flex.

Cost of the wheelset is $6000 so don’t think we will see many around but i cant wait to see a set in real life.

Reynold Wheels are done by Dan Taylor and his team and you contact him on dan@theprogroup.co.za they also do FELT bicycles and a few other things too.

Great Value TT Bike – FELT S22

The boys at Felt have sponsored Tanielle Mandy with this racing beauty. I must say at first glance its a very impressive bike and very well spec’d too. It’s a Alu frame with carbon rear stays which should make for a comfy ride with less vibration coming off the road up towards the saddle.

The front end is Profile Cobra TT bars and has FSA crankset. A really nice TT saddle sits on top of a carbon aero seatpost which you can use in 2 positions depending on how aggressive you want to ride.

Aero carbon fork the front to complete the package. The wheels are a in-house brand and impressed me the most, they have a aero profile and bladed spokes and a lot lighter than i would of thought by looking at them.

The only downside were the brakes which were unbranded but not bad looking and not bad brakes so doesnt really make much of a difference.

This bike really does look and feel the part and all of this for R18 999.99 amazing value in today’s market. Definitely worth a look at if your in the market for a TT bike. This spray job is a 2008 colour so the colour will be different for the 2009 model, but its one HOT looking bike.
